“गुरुपीठ” या उपक्रमातर्फे उत्तर अमेरिकेतील सर्व मराठी प्राध्यापकांना एकत्र आणण्याचा उद्देश आहे. यात प्रामुख्याने प्राध्यापकांना एकमेकांच्या ओळखी वाढवून स्वतःच्या नोकरी / संशोधनासाठी चांगली संधी शोधण्याचा, तसेच उच्च शिक्षणासाठी प्रयत्न करत असलेल्या मराठी विद्यार्थ्यांना, त्यांना हवे असलेल्या विषयात संशोधन करणाऱ्या प्राध्यापकांची ओळख करून घेण्याची संधी आहे.
या उपक्रमातर्फे आपण खालील कार्यक्रम करू शकतो:
– मराठी विद्यार्थ्यांना संशोधनासाठी मराठी प्राध्यापक उपलब्ध असलेल्या विद्यापीठांबद्दल माहिती मिळेल.
– मराठी पीएचडी विद्यार्थ्याला एखाद्या विद्यापीठात नोकरीची संधी उपलब्ध असेल तर ती कळू शकेल.
– खूपच प्रसिद्ध असलेल्या विद्यापीठांमधील प्राध्यापक त्यांच्या विद्यापीठात प्रवेश मिळवण्यासाठीचे प्रशिक्षण देणारे वर्ग बृहन्महाराष्ट्र मंडळातर्फे घेऊ शकतील – याचा फायदा उत्तर अमेरिकेतील नवीन पिढीतील मराठी मुलांना होऊ शकतो.
– दोन विद्यापीठांमध्ये एकत्रित संशोधन करण्यासंदर्भात सामंजस्य करार (MoU) होऊ शकतो.
– विशेष अनुदानासाठी उद्योगसमूहांशी कसे जोडले जावे याबद्दल वरिष्ठ प्राध्यापक कार्यशाळा (workshop) घेऊ शकतात.
– वरिष्ठ प्राध्यापक नवीन प्राध्यापकांना अध्यापनाच्या क्षेत्रात अत्यंत आवश्यक असलेल्या काही कौशल्यांचे प्रशिक्षण देऊ शकतात.
– महाराष्ट्र शासनाच्या उच्च शिक्षण विभागाबरोबर कोणताही सामंजस्य करार (MoU) करायचा असेल तर त्या दृष्टीने पावले टाकता येतील.
– भारतातील विद्यार्थी उत्तर अमेरिकेतील विद्यापीठात उन्हाळ्याच्या सुट्टीत एखादा अभ्यासक्रम करायला येऊ शकतील, तसेच अमेरिकेतील विद्यार्थी भारतीय विद्यापीठात उन्हाळ्याच्या सुट्टीत अभ्यासाला जाऊ शकतील.
– उत्तर अमेरिकेतील प्राध्यापक भारतीय विद्यापीठात Guest Lecturer म्हणून एक-दोन आठवडे किंवा एक ते तीन महिने अशा कालखंडासाठी जाऊ शकतील.
२०२६ ला बृहन्महाराष्ट्र मंडळाच्या सियाटल येथील संमेलनाच्या वेळी शैक्षणिक शिखर परिषदे मार्फत (Educational Summit) महाराष्ट्रातील तसेच उत्तर अमेरिकेतील मराठी प्राध्यापकांना एकत्र आणता येईल.
त्या वेळी तिथे कोणत्या चर्चासत्रांचे आयोजन करायचे या संदर्भात चर्चा करता येईल. तसेच, त्या शिखर परिषदेमध्ये भारतातील नामांकित विद्यापीठे जर उत्तर अमेरिकेतील विद्यापीठांबरोबर सामंजस्य करार करू शकले तर शैक्षणिक / बौद्धिक देवाण-घेवाण होण्यासही मदत होईल.

The Gurupeeth initiative aims to bring together all Marathi Professors in North America. This mainly provides an opportunity for professors to get to know each other and find good opportunities for their own job/research, as well as an opportunity for Marathi students who are trying to pursue higher education to get to know professors who are doing research in their desired subject.
Through this initiative, we can do the following:
– Marathi students will know about the Universities where Marathi professors are available for research.
– A Marathi PhD student will be able to know if there is a job opportunity available at a University.
– Professors from very famous Universities can take workshops for the BMM on how to get admission in their Universities – this can benefit the new generation of Marathi students in North America.
– A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) can be signed for joint research between the two Universities.
– Senior professors can conduct workshops on how to connect with industry groups for special grants.
– Senior professors can train new professors in some of the skills that are very much needed in the field of teaching.
– If any MoU is to be signed with the Higher Education Department of the Government of Maharashtra, steps can be taken in that direction.
– Students from India can come to a North American university to take a course during the summer vacation, and North American students can go to an Indian University to study during the summer vacation.
– Professors from North America can go to an Indian University as a Guest Lecturer for a period of one to two weeks or one to three months.
During BMM’s 2026 Seattle Convention, Marathi professors from Maharashtra and North America can be brought together through an Educational Summit. At that time, discussions can be held on which seminars to organize there. Also, if renowned Universities in India can sign MoUs with universities in North America at that summit, it will help in academic/intellectual exchange.
