BMM Shala

“मराठी शाळा” हा बृहन्महाराष्ट्र मंडळाचा सर्वात मोठा उपक्रम आहे. या शाळेची स्थापना २००९ साली झाली.
गेल्या १५ वर्षांपेक्षा अधिक वर्षे चालू असलेल्या या उपक्रमात, ५० हून अधिक शाळांच्या १२५ हून अधिक शाखा जोडल्या गेल्या आहेत.
या सर्व मराठी शाळांमध्ये अंदाजे ५,००० हून अधिक विद्यार्थी आहेत, तर ४०० हून अधिक स्वयंसेवक या शाळांमध्ये मराठी भाषा शिकवतात.
अमेरिका आणि कॅनडा व्यतिरिक्त जगातील अजून काही देशांमध्ये बृहन्महाराष्ट्र मंडळाच्या मराठी शाळेने आपला भगवा झेंडा फडकावला आहे.
२०२५ साली, २,३०० पेक्षा अधिक विद्यार्थ्यांनी “बृहन्महाराष्ट्र मंडळ – भारती विद्यापीठ” यांची परीक्षा दिली, तर १०० हून अधिक विद्यार्थ्यांनी बालभारतीची परीक्षा दिली.
२०२६ साली, जवळ जवळ ३,००० विद्यार्थी “बृहन्महाराष्ट्र मंडळाची” परीक्षा देत आहेत, तर जवळ जवळ ३०० विद्यार्थी बालभारतीची परीक्षा देत आहेत.

Marathi Shala” is the largest initiative of the Bruhan Maharashtra Mandal (BMM). It was established in 2009.

Over the past 15+ years, this initiative has grown significantly, with more than 125 branches across 50+ schools.

These Marathi schools collectively serve over 5,000 students, supported by 400+ dedicated volunteers who teach the Marathi language.

Beyond the United States and Canada, BMM Marathi Shala has also expanded its presence to several other countries across the world.

In 2025, more than 2,300 students appeared for the BMM–Bharati Vidyapeeth exams, while over 100 students took the Balbharati exams.

In 2026, close to 3,000 students are appearing for the BMM exams, and nearly 300 students are taking the Balbharati exams.

मराठ्यांचा पराक्रमी इतिहास (छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज ते पेशवाई)

छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज हे सर्व मराठी माणसांचे दैवत आहेत. त्यांनी हिंदवी स्वराज्याची स्थापना केली आणि सारा इतिहासच बदलला. पुढे पेशव्यांनी मराठी साम्राज्याचा विस्तार अटकेपार केला. हा सगळा इतिहास आपण शिकलो.

जर तुमच्या मुलांना मराठ्यांचा हा पराक्रमी इतिहास समजावून सांगायचा असेल, तर आपण लहानपणी जी पुस्तके वाचली ती परत एकदा त्यांच्याबरोबर वाचा आणि आपले पूर्वज कोण होते, त्यांनी काय पराक्रम केला, ते समजावून सांगा.

आम्हाला खात्री आहे की त्यांना पण त्यांच्या पूर्वजांचा अभिमान वाटेल आणि न कळतच त्यांच्या ही तोंडून शब्द बाहेर पडतील “शिवाजी महाराज की जय!”.

ही पुस्तके अमेरिकेत वाढलेल्या मुलांना वाचायला जरा अवघड आहेत, त्यामुळे पालकांनीच मुलांबरोबर पुस्तकातील धड्यांचे वाचन करावे आणि मुलांना समजावून सांगावे.

BMM Exam

BMM Exams will be conducted in May 2026 (in Canada, exams will be held in June 2026).
Starting this year, we will be adopting the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system for assessing our students. For more details, please refer to the information provided in the other tab.
Shala parents are requested to complete the BMM Exam Registration (instructions provided below).

Once registrations are received, BMM will coordinate directly with the Shala Principal/Coordinator to finalize the exam schedule.

For decades, education systems around the world have relied heavily on a single, high-stakes examination to evaluate a student’s abilities. The result has often been immense pressure, rote memorization, and an assessment system that fails to capture a student’s true potential.

Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) was introduced to address these very shortcomings. Mandated in India under the Right to Education Act, 2009 and implemented by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), CCE represents a fundamental shift in the philosophy of assessment. It moves away from one-time evaluation toward a continuous, holistic, and multi-dimensional approach that tracks a student’s growth throughout the academic year

At a high level, CCE consists of two key components:
(A) Formative Assessment
(B) Summative Assessment

(A) Formative Assessment

Formative assessment is an ongoing, in-process teaching and learning approach used to monitor student progress and provide timely feedback. It enables teachers to adjust instruction in real time while helping students identify and improve upon their learning gaps.

Unlike traditional exams, these assessments are often low-stakes or ungraded, creating a more supportive and less stressful learning environment. This encourages active participation, self-reflection, and continuous improvement.

(B) Summative Assessment

Summative assessment evaluates student learning at the end of an instructional period, such as a unit, semester, or academic year. These are typically high-stakes evaluations that measure knowledge and proficiency against defined standards.

They play an important role in:

Assigning grades
Measuring academic achievement
Evaluating curriculum effectiveness

Common examples include final exams, standardized tests, and end-of-term projects.

सतत आणि सर्वंकष मूल्यमापन (CCE) – BMM मराठी शाळांसाठी

गेल्या अनेक वर्षांपासून शिक्षण पद्धतीत विद्यार्थ्यांचे मूल्यमापन मुख्यतः एकाच अंतिम परीक्षेवर आधारित होते. यामुळे विद्यार्थ्यांवर अनावश्यक ताण येतो, पाठांतरावर भर राहतो आणि विद्यार्थ्यांच्या खऱ्या क्षमतेचा पूर्ण आढावा घेतला जात नाही.

यासाठीच सतत आणि सर्वंकष मूल्यमापन (Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation – CCE) ही संकल्पना पुढे आली. भारतामध्ये २००९ च्या शैक्षणिक हक्क कायद्याअंतर्गत अनिवार्य करण्यात आलेली आणि केंद्रीय माध्यमिक शिक्षण मंडळ (CBSE) द्वारे अंमलात आणलेली CCE ही मूल्यमापनाच्या तत्त्वज्ञानातील एक मूलभूत बदल दर्शवते. या पद्धतीत विद्यार्थ्यांचे मूल्यमापन वर्षभर चालणारी, सर्वांगीण प्रक्रिया म्हणून पाहिले जाते—फक्त परीक्षेपुरते मर्यादित नाही.

पूर्वतयारी आणि सर्वेक्षण (Survey & Planning)
कोणताही उपक्रम सुरू करण्यापूर्वी त्या भागातील गरजा ओळखणे आवश्यक आहे.
सर्वेक्षण: स्थानिक मराठी मंडळाने एक सर्वेक्षण करावे. यामध्ये किती मुले मराठी शिकण्यास इच्छुक आहेत, त्यांचे वयोगट आणि भौगोलिक व्याप्ती (Demographics) यांची माहिती घ्यावी.
पालक सभा: पालकांची बैठक घेऊन या उपक्रमावर चर्चा करावी. शिक्षकांची उपलब्धता, स्वयंसेवक आणि वर्गाची वेळ यावर पालकांचे मत घ्यावे.
समन्वय आणि शिक्षक नियुक्ती (Coordination)
समन्वयक (Coordinator): एका अशा व्यक्तीची निवड करा ज्याला मराठी भाषेची आवड आहे आणि जो या प्रक्रियेचे व्यवस्थापन चोखपणे करू शकेल.
शिक्षक आणि स्वयंसेवक: अनुभवी आणि समर्पित स्वयंसेवक शिक्षकांची नियुक्ती करा.

सुरुवातीला एखाद्या सदस्याच्या घरी किंवा भाड्याने घेतलेल्या हॉलमध्ये वर्ग सुरू करता येतील.
शाळा स्थिरावल्यावर स्थानिक ‘स्कूल बोर्ड’ कडे वर्गखोल्यांसाठी अर्ज करता येईल. यामुळे मुलांना ब्लॅकबोर्ड, डेस्क आणि ऑडिओ-व्हिडिओ उपकरणांची सुविधा मिळू शकेल.
उपक्रम आणि प्रोत्साहन (Activities & Motivation)
मराठी शाळा फक्त वर्गापुरती मर्यादित न ठेवता ती आनंददायी करावी:
सहली आणि शिबिरे: उन्हाळी शिबिरे, सहली, आणि मराठी चित्रपट दाखवणे.
सण-उत्सव: दिवाळी, गणेशोत्सव यांसारख्या सणांचे एकत्र साजरीकरण.
स्नेहसंमेलन: वर्षाच्या शेवटी ‘मराठी कला गुणदर्शन’ कार्यक्रम आयोजित करावा, जेणेकरून मुलांना स्टेजवर मराठी बोलण्याची संधी मिळेल.

स्थानिक मराठी मंडळ खालील प्रकारे मदत करू शकते:
मंडळाच्या कार्यक्रमांमध्ये शाळेसाठी मोफत नोंदणी टेबल उपलब्ध करून देणे.
ई-पत्र किंवा न्यूजलेटरद्वारे शाळेची जाहिरात करणे.
कार्यक्रमांमध्ये मराठी शाळेच्या विद्यार्थ्यांच्या सादरीकरणाला (नाटक, वकृत्व) प्राधान्य देणे.
शिक्षकांचा सार्वजनिक सत्कार करून त्यांच्या कार्याचा गौरव करणे.
उपसंहार: नियमित उपस्थिती आणि पालकांचे सहकार्य ही मराठी शाळा यशस्वी होण्याची गुरुकिल्ली आहे. साधारणपणे सप्टेंबरच्या मध्यापासून जून अखेरपर्यंत हे वर्ग चालवावेत.
