Mandal Yuwa Summer Program

Summer holidays are approaching. While some families may travel during the break, many Yuwas will still be in town or available for local activities. This creates a wonderful opportunity to engage them in meaningful community involvement.

BMM is excited to launch the Mandal Yuwa Summer Program— a new initiative designed to encourage Yuwa participation in Mandal activities while promoting leadership, teamwork, creativity, and decision-making skills among our youth.

Our goal is simple:
We want Yuwas to take ownership, lead initiatives, and organize activities just as their parents and community leaders do within the Mandals today. These young leaders will carry forward the mission, culture, and values of our Mandals and BMM in the future.

The long-term success of BMM and our Mandals depends on the next generation developing a strong connection with the community. This initiative is an important first step toward giving them meaningful leadership exposure and hands-on experience.

To support this effort, the BMM Executive Committee has unanimously approved a matching grant program of up to $150 per Mandal for Yuwa Summer activities, provided the local Mandal also contributes funds.

Examples

  • If a Mandal contributes $125, BMM will match $125.
  • If a Mandal contributes $250, BMM will contribute the maximum matching amount of $150.

Suggested Process

  1. Encourage your Yuwas to form a team (if one does not already exist).
  2. Ask them to brainstorm and propose an activity or project they would like to organize.
  3. Have the Yuwa team submit a simple plan and budget to the Mandal President and BMM Representative.
  4. Once approved by the Mandal, allow the Yuwas to organize and execute the activity.
  5. Receipts should be submitted to the Mandal Treasurer for reimbursement.
  6. The Mandal BMM Representative can then submit the reimbursement request to BMM along with details of the Mandal’s contribution (Deadline: July 20, 2026).
  7. BMM will reimburse the approved matching amount (up to $150 maximum).

Examples of Activities

The possibilities are endless. Here are just a few ideas:

  • Community service projects (example: building or installing a bench in a local park)
  • Team-building picnics and outdoor activities
  • Music, dance, drama, or talent events
  • Indoor or outdoor sports tournaments
  • Volunteering and fundraising activities
  • Leadership workshops or youth networking events
  • Any activity that keeps Yuwas meaningfully engaged for several hours while building teamwork and leadership skills

We encourage Mandals to be creative and allow Yuwas to take the lead in planning and execution.
